Hi, guys! I want you to meet my best friend, “Ethel.” Ethel agreed to be my model for the E-Shakti review that I agreed to do several weeks back. E-Shakti is a clothing company that sets themselves apart from everyone else because they will customize anything you order from their site according to your measurements! They carry sizes 0-36W and you can customize according to length, sleeve style, and neckline as well! That is my favorite part about what they offer, and is precisely why I agreed to do the review. They’ve been featured in many popular magazines, including some of my favorites like, O’ Magazine, Vogue, and Glamour!
E-Shakti offered me an article of clothing, or sample, of my choice for review. We ultimately chose the draped toga dress in black. It takes about two weeks to receive your order, which to me is very sensible considering it’s customized to fit you.
When I received the dress, what I liked immediately was how well it was made, which is something I’ve heard before in other reviews of the company. They definitely are a company of quality and craftsmanship. However, unfortunately for Ethel, the dress was too big, so she was a little uncomfortable modeling it.
We discussed taking it in, but I ultimately felt I probably should review the dress how we received it. So, Ethel bravely put it on despite how baggy it was on her. We also thought about sending it back to try again, but that wouldn’t have been fair to the company if we were at fault for giving faulty measurements.
It’s possible the measurements were messed up on Ethel’s end. For instance, she was a little confused about how to measure the shoulders at one point and her measurement was way off! I want to be very transparent and say that she did have her husband measure her 3 times before sending in her measurement, though. That being said, neither one of us felt comfortable in making the call on who was at fault.
I also would like to add that I was disappointed that the dress really didn't look a whole lot like the one on their site. Perhaps it has something to do with the measurements being off. I do know they have a whole slew of happy bloggers whose outfits look amazing, so I'm not throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Sometimes mistakes happen with a perfectly good company. I know it has for me with other companies who I was otherwise very satisfied with.

The mishap has not shaken her confidence (or mine) from trying again. There are several 50’s type dresses that E-Shakti offers that she absolutely adores and plans on ordering, and they now have new dresses up for Spring that are so cute! I’m completely jealous of the bloggers that are getting chosen to review an E-Shakti dress from their Spring line!
Here is my favorite pick from their Spring line:
The above dress would be to die for with a fuller skirt. Hint, hint, E-Shakti.
That green dress is lovely! And I love the black one too.
ReplyDeleteYes, the green is so lovely. They have some cute color blocked dresses for Spring. Love them!
DeleteYour friend is so pretty! That's too bad the dress didn't fit right, but hopefully the second try will be the charm. I've never heard of this clothing company before- it's so cool that they custom size everything! I think I'd probably have the same problem as Ethel though because I don't have a clue how to properly measure myself.
ReplyDeleteI could have sworn I already responded to your comment, Brooke! I'm so spacy sometimes, lol! Thank you for the sweet comment on "Ethel." I agree about how cool it is that they customize!
DeleteI know there are some 50's type dresses on other sites that I love but they are so short! That's why I really like this company offering the customization for the hemline. I love that they do also with the sleeve and neckline, too, for design reasons.
The sad thing about the measurements is that they make it some what easy for you with photos, but "Ethel and I" are known to mess up the easiest of things at times, especially her. :D Shhh...don't tell her I said that!
"Ethel" is so pretty, and I love her hair styles. Sorry the dress didn't end up fitting precisely, but I can see why you chose it. It's a lovely piece to own.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day,
Meredith
Thanks so much, Meredith, for the sweet compliments. I picked out the first hairstyle and "Ethel" picked out the second one. Well, for the dress we both had to agree on it, so it was a little bit of a struggle.:D But, yeah it would have made a really pretty dress if the measurements panned out.
